Created for competent cyclists, the Chianti Classic Bike Tour trades easy paths for challenging rolling hills and rewarding panoramic climbs. Leaving Florence behind, you will conquer some of Tuscany’s most iconic cycling roads, immersed in vineyards and medieval villages. The experience is physically demanding at times, but for those comfortable on hilly terrain, it is the most authentic cycling experience in Tuscany.

Your Itinerary Step-by-Step

  1. Morning Transfer & Radda in Chianti Your day starts with an 8:30 AM pick-up in Florence. We drive south in our air-conditioned van to the ancient walled village of Radda in Chianti. You will have time to explore the cobbled streets and enjoy a traditional Italian cappuccino before we fit your bikes.
  2. Cycling the Chianti Hills We hit the road for the active portion of the tour. The route features the famous soft rolling hills of Tuscany. You will cycle along flowing backroads, away from mass tourism, immersing yourself in a landscape of vineyards and ancient forests.
  3. Brolio Castle Gardens A rewarding climb brings us to the stunning Brolio Castle, owned by the Ricasoli family since 1141. We will visit the Renaissance gardens, famous for their geometric bushes and sweeping panoramic views of the entire Chianti Classico area.
  4. Tuscan Lunch & Wine Tasting After the castle visit, it is time for a well-deserved lunch (payable locally) at a traditional trattoria. Following lunch, we head to the historic Ricasoli tasting room to sample their prestigious Chianti Classico wines and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
  5. Downhill to Gaiole and Return For the grand finale, you will hop back on your bike for a thrilling downhill ride leading straight into the town of Gaiole in Chianti. After a satisfying final espresso, we load the bikes into the van and drive you safely back to Florence by 5:30 PM.

  • Is lunch included? Lunch is not included, but we will be happy to recommend one of our favorite local spots along the route for a quick and delicious Tuscan meal

  • What should I wear? Comfortable cycling apparel is strongly recommended for this ride due to the physical nature of the terrain.
