Is there anything more Italian than Gelato?

by Elena Boscherini | Oct 27, 2017 | Florence, Family biking adventures, Cycling in Tuscany, Tuscan Culture

By Elena Boscherini, your guide at Bike Florence & Tuscany Updated: July 3, 2019 And you all know that gelato was invented right here in Florence! Personally, I love gelato and I am very critical when I am giving it a vote. I have taste-tested lots and lots of...

Best Thing to do in Florence

by Donna Scharnagl | Jul 19, 2017 | Florence, Places to See, Traveling with kids, Family biking adventures

When the Temperatures are on the Rise Sometimes the best thing to do in Florence during the summer is getting outside of the city: for example, the Downhill to Florence ride with the Bike Florence & Tuscany team. Starting at over 2600 feet above the Renaissance...

The Essence of Spring (everybody needs cuteness a The Essence of Spring (everybody needs cuteness and warmth at times 🥰).

Enjoy the reading, have a sunny, warm spring week-end!
(CAN’T WAIT TO SHOW YOU THESE TUSCAN FLOWERS IN PERSON 🤗)

“ That year, Winter decided not to give up his place to the Primavera. He wanted to stay on Earth at any cost, forever.

To do this, he called one of his helpers, the Frost. “Frost,” he told him, “when Spring tries to get out of the door of his house, cover it with ice and snow. Frost obeyed, and Spring, who was terribly afraid of ice, was trapped in the house.

The animals of the wood, hungry and cold, gathered to decide what to do. "I'll go ask the Sun for help," said the swallow. "He can melt the ice and free the Spring".

The brave swallow set out on his mission and reached the sun above the clouds.
“I would love to help you, but I can't” the Sun said.
“only the Spring, with its powers, can make me warm the Earth”.

The swallow dived into flight and reached the house of the Spring.

It was covered in ice. 🧊🧊🧊
He dropped the seeds🌱🌱🌱, just as the Sun had said, then returned to his nest.

After a few days, the animals went to check what had happened.

From the seeds had blossomed beautiful yellow flowers 🌻 🌸, which had buried their roots in the ice 🧊 breaking it.

Thanks to them, Spring was able to leave the house and ordered the Sun ☀️ to warm the Earth.

It was the beginning of the warm season; it was finally Spring!

Since that day, every year, primroses (those brave little yellow flowers were called as such) bloom at the end of winter, to announce the arrival of the Spring.”
(From an Ancient, Folk novel)

MONTERIGGIONI! #minteriggioniditorrisicorona Fro MONTERIGGIONI!
#minteriggioniditorrisicorona

From the top of a gentle hill near #Siena, this splendid medieval village transports you into the distant past.
.
.
One of the oldest, most memorable and recognizable villages in all of Italy, it seems that it has been inhabited since the eighth century BC. A true mirage for those who want to dive into the Middle Ages, the town is even mentioned by the Supreme Poet Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy: Inferno, Canto XXXI.
.
.The castle, almost untouched by time, the church, the square walls, and the small specialty shops are just asking for photos! 💯🇮🇹❤️
.
.
The charming ❤️ walled village of #Monteriggioni ancient medieval outpost founded to protect the Republic of #Siena 🇮🇹 is surrounded by age-old olive groves and vineyards.
.
.
On our Tuscany Wine Lovers bike tour, once you enter within the town walls lead by Elena&Piero you’ll feel it’s definitely time for your unique wine experience with lunch.
.
.
Pairing local organic products with Tuscan wines in the cantina of our favorite the local organic producer, you will experience the savory goodness of the area.

Any better way to discovery hidden corners of Tuscany whilst learning about local wines other than by biking?

Wednesday, April 7., 2021 : today is the Internati Wednesday, April 7., 2021 :
today is the International World Health day!

In 1948 the first World Health Assembly decided to establish a dedicated health day around the world.

Therefore since 1950, the
World Health Day
has been celebrated on the 7th of April.

We believe that never as in these past times all of us have realized the vital importance of being healthy.

According to recent studies looks like cycling reduces the risk of mortality by 16%.
With the increase in aerobic activity, the production of endorphins also increases enhancing its natural analgesic and slightly euphoric action.

Frankly on the base of our personal daily experience we can’t say anything other than 💯 agree!!
And it’s totally unbiased feedback about the thousand benefits of biking, especially when in #Tuscany!

We can’t wait to hear your thoughts: join us this Summer to leave your unbiased opinion 😉😊👍🚴🚴🚴

Welcome #Tuscany Spring! Today we took a long rid Welcome #Tuscany Spring!

Today we took a long ride in the Mugello Valley, plunging into one of the most beautiful green 💚 hearts of our Region.

Located a few kilometers north of Florence, #Mugello looks like a wide green valley crossed by a stretch of the Sieve river, one of the major tributaries of the Arno, the river crossing #yourflorence

Bordered to the north by the Apennines faces to the south to the Monte Senario, clearly visible from Borgo San Lorenzo (Monte Senario offers breathtaking views onto the Mugello Valley hence this ancient monastery is not by chance the starting point of our amazing Downhill to Florence bike tour).🚴👍🚴‍♀️

Browsing our photos you’ll be captured by the beauty, the richness of the nature of the territory and the variety of the landscape, which alternates between flat areas, hilly areas and mountain areas, not to mention the pretty small towns and Medici residences.

Last but not least .. the rustic Mugello’s cuisine will surprise your palate: a gods portion of “Tortelli di patate” is the best way to recharge your energy after a few miles of pedaling 😉.

Potato tortelli are soft, square, yellow ravioli filled with mashed potato, cheese, garlic and parsley.
Top them with strong meat sauces or simply with butter and sage and... buon appetito!!

Mugello is on of the Tuscany most beautiful off-the-beaten areas to discover by bicycle with Elena & Piero 🥰
